Udupi, Aug 12: “Under Basava Housing Project in Karkala taluk, a total of 2,000 houses have been sanctioned by the state authorities and the construction of six houses has already been completed while 34 houses are in various stages of construction,” said ZP vice president Jyoti S Shetty.
Shetty was speaking at the progress review of the Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) at ZP auditorium, here on Thursday August 11.
“Under Basava Housing Project, a total of Rs 54.48 lac has already been released. Under the ‘Indira Awaz Project’, the Rajeev Gandhi Housing Board has approved a total of 363 houses for upgrading and construction of 25 new houses during the year 2011–12,” added Shetty.
ZP acting chief executive officer S A Prabhakar advised the public instructions department officers to grant travelling allowances to rural students who come from far-flung villages to attend their schools.
District health officer Dr Ramachandra Bayari said that artificial insemination has been provided to 18,009 cattle by the animal husbandry department, while the health department administered 4,925 polio drops, 4, 875 DADA drops, and 5,402 BCG drops, besides detecting 411 TB cases, and 60,215 malaria cases by July 2011.
Joint agriculture director B Y Srinivas said that the district recorded a rainfall of 3,454 millimetres by the first week of August. Rice saplings are being planted on 47,310 hectares of farmland this year against the target of 48,200 hectares. A total of 3,140 metric tonnes of chemical fertilizers were also distributed across the district.
ZP education and health overseeing committee president K Babu, social justice standing committee president Upendra Naik, deputy secretary D Pranesh Rao, chief project officer Vijay Kumar Shetty, and chief accounts officer Timmappa were present on the occasion.
