Mangaluru, Aug 15: The 77th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at St Agnes CBSE School Bendur on August 15 at Block 1and II hall on a blissful Tuesday morning. Every year this day brings out the patriotic feelings in the minds of the people and embraces the sense of the great work done by the freedom fighters to our great nation.

With the marching tune of the school band the chief guest Lt Col Gracian Sequiera, administrative officer 18 Karnataka Battalion NCC Mangaluru and other dignitaries were escorted to the flag post for the flag hoisting ceremony. With the school band playing the melodious national anthem brought a sense of respect to the nation. The solemn outdoor programme was followed by the cultural programme.

 

The cultural programme commenced with invoking God’s blessings on the motherland. The students performed a welcome dance with poise and captivated the audience. A dance drama depicting the spirit of oneness and the importance of achieving the goal in life was presented by the students and was followed by the melodious patriotic song and fusion songs. A skit on ‘One step towards success’ showing the importance of the sacrifice of the great leaders was performed enthusiastically by the students. The significance of the day was meaningfully presented. The entire cultural programme instilled patriotism and pride as each one witnessed this wonderful solemn programme. 

Lt Col Gracian Sequiera congratulated the students and teachers for bringing out a significant and captivating programme. He expressed his deep sense of gratitude and pride for inviting him and being a part of this programme. He urged the students to always respect the country and try to do something for the nation. He also encouraged the students to join the army and serve the nation. At this juncture the school paid tribute and heartfelt gratitude to Lt Col Gracian Sequeira for his relentless service to the nation.

Sr Leticia, coordinator of St Agnes Preparatory School, congratulated the students for their brilliant performance and encouraged them to always love the country and strive to be good citizens. She urged the students to always have a sense of pride and belongingness to the country.

The students who had won in chess and yogasana competition were honoured along with teachers who had undergone certified training in cubs and scouts.

Sr Maria Sarika AC principal, Sr Edna Furtado administrator, Sr Lenita Lobo AC the vice principal, Sr Leticia AC coordinator of St Agnes Preparatory School and Sr Sweedal Fernandes AC were present for the programme.

The entire cultural programme was ably compered by Marvel and Lianna of grade V, Anshel George and Aradhana Shetty of Grade VII and Sharel Noronha and Aditi P K Nishika and Fathima Haleema welcomed the gathering, Sanvitha Ravish, Dhaanvi, Kushi, Tanishka, Snehal and Nisarga placed the significance of the day. Alec and Aanya Asif proposed the vote of thanks expressing the gratitude for each and every one gathered for their wonderful participation. The programme was brought to a closure with singing the school anthem and serving refreshments to make this event a memorable one.
