Mangaluru: St Aloysius College holds XIII Graduation Day

Mangaluru, May 23: The St Aloysius College (Autonomous) organized XIII Graduation Day 2023 on Saturday, May 20.

In his chief guest address, Prof Dr Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, vice chancellor, Nitte deemed to be university, threw light on his academic journey and said, "The credit of students’ academic excellence must go to their parents, teachers and alma mater. It is not only about finance and economic condition, but also the time that parents have invested in the upbringing of their children."

"Success is achieved by improving emotional quotient. Students of this generation is referred as 'Gen X' for their nature of being tech savvy. By 2030, India will be the country with most of the youngest population with more than 50 percent," he added.

Meanwhile, Dr Bhandary advised students that money is not everything in life, but contribute something valuable towards the society.

Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, president, Mangalore Jesuit Educational Society (MJES) and Provincial, Karnataka Jesuit Province said, "Being graduated is a life marker and a mark of success."

"First journey of life is academic, second is baggage of skills, attitude and the way you compose your life. Students shall be employment generator than employment seekers. At St Aloysius Institutions, you develop capacity to be resilient, ability to improve tolerance level, and ability to take feedback.

You are here to enrich the world," he added.

Fr Melwin Joseph Pinto SJ, rector, St Aloysius Institutions, Mangaluru said, "It's time to celebrate, reflect and anticipate. There are three important principles of life namely, embrace curiosity, perseverance, and betterment of society. At Aloysius, students develop a capability of breaking stereotypes and to be ambassadors of humanity."

He advised the students to be humane in all their endeavors."

The guests were escorted to the dais by the college band.

The college choir led the gathering to prayer.

Fr Melwin Joseph Pinto SJ administered the oath to the graduating students.

Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, declared the convocation open.

Fr Dr Praveen Martis SJ, rinicpal, St. Aloysius College (Autonomous) welcomed the gathering and said, "What you do, will lead to great work.”

Dr Alwyn D'Sa, registrar, St. Aloysius College (Autonomous) handed over the list of graduating students to Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, which consisted names of 2433 candidates. A total of 92 rank holders were conferred certificates out of which three were special prizes, 58 PG and 33 UG rank holders, PGDBM 1 respectively.

Chethan Shettigar, convener of the XIII graduation day programme proposed the vote of thanks. Manoj Fernandes and Dr Mona Mendonca compered the programme.
