Mangaluru: Voters Awareness Drive held at St Agnes College (Autonomous)

Mangaluru, Apr 12: The DK Zilla Panchayat, SVEEP Committee and Cartoon Artist Forum in association with St Agnes College Electoral Literacy Club and NSS Unit organized an Electoral awareness drive on April 11 at St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru.

Sr Dr Lydia A C., joint secretary, St Agnes Institutions, inaugurated the program. Dr Kumar, CEO D K Zilla Panchayat addressed the gathering and motivated the students to enroll in Voters list and participate in the Electoral process and thereby uphold the democracy of the Nation.

The designated Icons and Ambassadors of SVEEP, Sri. Arvind Bolar, Coastal wood Film Actor inspired the new voters through Comedy punches and dialogues on the Right to Vote and its significance in Nation building. On this occasion a cartoon exhibition was held the by the Cartoon Artist forum of D K District.

In her presidential address, Sr Dr Venissa A.C., principal of the college gave a call for the students to be facilitators by actively participating in activities organized by ELC and also exercise the right to vote. Dr Meera ELC Nodal Officer and NSS Programme Officer welcomed the gathering and gave an introductory note on the ELC activities. Mr John Chandra, cartoonist and drawing Teacher, St Aloysius High School coordinated the Cartoon exhibition.

SVEEP committee members led by Dombaiya Idukidu conducted the live demonstration of voting procedure using EVMs and VVPat. To create electoral awareness, a street play was performed by NSS volunteers on this occasion. Sanidhya compered the program. Dr Uday Kumar, NSS programme officer proposed a vote of thanks.
