Mangaluru, Jan 26: On January 26, Republic Day was celebrated in the college premises.
Balakrishna Gatty - proprietor of Sri Gajanana Machine Works was the chief guest of the programme. Fr John Dsouza SJ - director was the president, Roshan D’Souza - principal, Alwyn Menezes - vice principal, Noel Lobo - training officer, Dorin Snehaprabha convener of the programme were present. Staff members and few students were present for the flag hoisting programme.
The flag was hoisted by the chief guest and everyone sang the national anthem. My India Pledge was led by Shinal Patrao, student of Sewing Technology and Fashion Design. The prayer song was sung by Sewing Technology and Fashion Design students. Suhana, student of Sewing Technology welcomed the chief guest and the gathering.
The chief guest addressed the gathering by a short message and said, “The day has come to spread the flag of India's glory in the world. You have joined this institution to gain technical education which will help you in your future. Any kind of technical education does not bring overnight success. It requires special effort. There is no shortcut, we have to work hard and spend time in our studies and work. This will lead us to long-term success. We should be aware of what we have to achieve and what we are interested in and work on it. You have come to this institution with the intention of fulfilling it, you have to dedicate yourself to it. You must love your institution and work because your love for the institution and work creates beauty. It will be beneficial and your organisation will grow and be proud. It will be a light for people.”
The students of Sewing Technology and Fashion Design sang a patriotic song.
Fr John D'Souza S J in his presidential address spoke a few words saying that, “Even though we got independence, we had no constitution of our own. The day on which the constitution of India came into force is celebrated as Republic Day. Obeying this constitution is not only for one or two, but we all must obey it. You students are the future of the country, so let us all live as children of Bharth Matha.”
Spoorthy Shetty, student of Sewing Technology and Fashion Design proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Jayasheela, Student of Fashion Design.
