Mangalore, May 30: Deputy speaker and MLA N Yogish Bhat has announced the introduction of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) sleeper buses from Mangalore and Kundapur to Bangalore in the next two to three months. He said that 10 buses would ply on these routes, five each from Mangalore and Kundapur.
He was speaking after inspecting KSRTC bus stand here on Monday May 30. The renovation of the bus stand had been undertaken in three phases with the expenditure of Rs 3 crore, he said. While the seating facilities were in the process of being upgraded, attempts were being made to make the bus stand friendlier to senior citizens. He added that an additional Rs 25 lac would be needed to complete electrification and painting works.
Bhat further said that the second and third floors of the bus stand would be used to house offices apart from lodging facilities for the travellers.
The KSRTC bus stand, which covers an area of 3 acres and 73 cents, has 442 arrivals and departures each every day.
