Mangaluru, Jul 15: VanMahotsav or Forest Festival is an annual tree-planting festival celebrated in the month of July in which thousands of trees are planted all over the country. To spread awareness of forest conservation and to save the environment.

Ryan International School, Mangaluru celebrated VanMahotsava on July 15 and created awareness among students that nature has endowed humanity with great gifts and it is our utmost duty to conserve it.

Tree plantation ceremony took place in the school premises with great aplomb and enthusiasm in which students participated in large numbers.

On this occasion, chief guest Prashanth Kumar Pai, range forest officer, Mangaluru spoke about the importance of planting trees to the students. It is not only oxygen or food that trees provide us, but trees are also responsible for controlling soil erosion, water purification, climate change, and biodiversity. A considerable contribution to the health industry is from the trees because they are the source of many life-saving medicines. Also, appreciated the efforts of the students and asked them to be aware of their surroundings and help to make the Earth cleaner and greener. Green surroundings are not our desire but our duty too.

As the tree plantation was going on, the students sang 'Plant a tree for your tomorrow' in multi languages.

The celebration was an ideal opportunity to instill the value of social responsibility amongst students towards safeguarding trees and forest cover. The focus of the celebration was to build a personal connection between the students and the environment through a process of experience, reflection and creation, through various activities.

VanMahotsav turned out to be a great success, achieving its purpose in an engaging and fun way.
