Udupi: Athletes of St Cecily’s High School shine bright

Udupi, Nov 25: Aavni Ganesh, a Class 10 student, and Pooja, a class 8 student, have made St Cecily’s High School proud with their stellar performances at the state-level athletics meet 2024.

Competing in the under-17 category, Aavni Ganesh clinched the gold medal in the 100m hurdles and secured a silver medal in the long jump at the meet held in Kolar. Her achievements have earned her a spot to represent Karnataka at the upcoming National Level Meet in Lucknow.

Meanwhile, Pooja dominated the under-14 category, winning gold in the 100m, 200m, and 400m races, and setting new meet records in all three events. Her exceptional performance also earned her the individual championship title. Additionally, Pooja excelled at the mini olympics held in Bengaluru, bagging gold medals in both the 60m and 100m races. She will now compete at the national level meet in Ranchi.

Both athletes were felicitated for their outstanding achievements by Dr Yellamma, block education officer of Udupi, and Ravindra Naik, Taluk Panchayat officer of Udupi, in the presence of the school faculty and students.

The school community expressed immense pride in their accomplishments and wished them success in the upcoming national competitions.
