St Agnes College inaugurates NSS annual special camp at govt high school Manchi

Mangaluru, Nov 25: The inauguration of the week-long National Service Scheme (NSS) Camp organized by St Agnes College was held on November 24, at Government High School, Manchi, Kolnadu, Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka. The event commenced with great enthusiasm, showcasing the spirit of service and dedication among the volunteers.

The programme began with a warm welcome speech by Dr Udaya Kumar B, NSS programme officer, followed by a prayer song by the NSS volunteers, setting a serene and inspiring tone for the day.

The camp was formally inaugurated by Mohammed Ashraf, president of Kolnadu gram panchayat. He commended St Agnes College and the NSS team for their initiative in fostering community development and creating a positive impact.

Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal of St Agnes College (Autonomous), presided over the programme and addressed the gathering. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of social responsibility and active community engagement, urging the volunteers to make a meaningful difference through their service.

Susheela, headmistress of Government High School, Manchi, expressed her gratitude to St Agnes College for organizing the NSS camp on the school premises. She assured the full cooperation of the school staff for the success of the camp.

Savitha, president of the school development and superintendent committee, Government High School, Manchi, wished the volunteers success in their endeavors.

Ram Prasad Rai Thiruvaje, president of the senior student Union at Government High School, Manchi, highlighted the crucial role NSS plays in shaping youth into socially conscious and proactive citizens.

Distinguished guests present at the event included Sr Dr Maria Roopa AC, joint secretary of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru; Sr Dr Roopa Rodrigues AC, vice principal; Sr Carmel Rita AC, administrator; and Ravi Bhat, vice president of the PTA. Local dignitaries and invitees also graced the occasion with their presence.

The NSS volunteers presented a meaningful cultural programme, showcasing the vibrant culture of Tulunadu.

Preetha Tauro, NSS programme officer, proposed the vote of thanks, and the programme was effectively compered by Tapasswini, NSS Volunteer. The programme concluded with the NSS anthem.

During the seven-day camp, volunteers will engage in community service (shramadhan), participate in educational sessions, conduct health amps, and create awareness about cleanliness and hygiene.

Dr Udaya Kumar B and Preetha Tauro, NSS programme officers, along with K M Chethana, assistant NSS programme officer, and volunteer leaders Dan Charles and Dhanyashree, are steering the camp activities.
