Mangaluru: 'Agnosphere' holds alumni meet at St Agnes PU College

Mangaluru, Jul 11: It was indeed a happy moment for all Agnesians to come and reconnect at the Alumni Meet organised by ‘Agnosphere’, the alumni association of St Agnes PU College on July 9, in the college auditorium.

The programme commenced by invoking God’s blessings through a visual prayer song. Sr Norine DSouza, the principal of St Agnes PU College welcomed the former Agnesians back home.

Proud alumna of the 1988-90 batch, Shanthala K A, senior manager R&D, Nokia, Bengaluru was the guest of honour. During her address, she reminisced the times she spent as a student in the class as well as in hostel. She shared her moments of fun and frolic and mentioned that St Agnes PU College was instrumental in blooming her into a dignified, well-mannered and empowered woman. The days spent in this campus were the golden days etched in her memory.

She also presented a video of her vivid memories at St Agnes Institutions. It gave a glimpse of the Institution in the early 90’s. It is a  testimony for how the Institution has progressed in leaps and bounds. Her batch mates were nostalgic for a time, reliving the past.

At the meet, alumni achievers in sports - Carol Reyona Monteiro ( 2009-11batch) who is a national level high jump and pole vault winner and currently the deputy range forest officer, Namrasha Ganiga (2012-14 batch) who is an international level karate champion, national level off road bike race winner and VTU University level hammer throw and boxing winner and at present working as project manager at Lcode Technologies and Rischika Thimmaiha (2017-19 batch) who has been the winning captain of both the floorball and hockey teams of Karnataka at the national level tournaments and also a state level wrestler and now pursuing BCom were felicitated by the dignitaries for their notable accomplishments and bringing laurels to their Alma Mater.

Vice principal, Sr Janet Sequeira, convenor of the programme Suvasini and alumni-core committee member Mansi Lisha Pinto, were also present on the dais. There was a short entertainment programme by both the present students as well as the alumni. The programme was compered by Susan Andrea Mendonca and Danica Winola D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks.

Though it rained cats and dogs the sportive spirit of Agnesians made them witness this event in large number .The alumni were grateful to their alma mater for organising the meet. To cherish the blissful moments, batch wise photos were clicked. The programme concluded with a mass dance which helped revive happy memories and the alumni returned home with a feeling of nostalgia.
