Mangaluru: Celebration of International Yoga Day at St Mary’s English Higher Primary School

Mangaluru, Jun 24: Yoga helps an individual to attain as well as to maintain physical, mental and spiritual health. To mark the significance of yoga, St Mary’s English Higher Primary School celebrated the International yoga day on June 21.

The programme began at 9:00 am with the prayer song ‘Ee Jagakella Belakagi Baa Deva’ led by the students of class VII.

V L Rego the president of Integral yoga Satsang, was invited as a chief guest of the event, Veera D’cunha welcomed him and introduced him to the gathering. The International Yoga day was inaugurated by the chief guest V L Rego, the respected headmistress Sr Letitia A C, assistant headmistress Sr Gracy Lobo A C, Vinita Praveen the PET teacher and Kavitha, the yoga teacher inaugurated by lighting the lamp.

V L Rego, who is popularly known as Yogacharya addressed the students and enriched their mind on the importance of yoga in controlling health disorders like back pain, stress, tension, arthritis, balance issues, chronic pain etc. His life experience inspired our students very much.

The headmistress Sr Letitia also encouraged the students, to practice yoga regularly which helps to keep themselves physically fit.

Kavita the yoga teacher conducted some asanas.

The programme ended with vote of thanks by Elizabeth. Maria Anitha D'Souza compered the programme.
