Mangaluru: St Agnes School organizes session on topic 'Health, Hygiene and Eco-friendly products’

Mangaluru, Jun 20: St Agnes School CBSE organized half a day session on June 11 on the topic 'Health, Hygiene and Eco-friendly products’. The main aim of the session was to educate the girl children and women about menstrual health and hygiene and use of eco-friendly products.

The resource person was Bhavya Hegde,the proprietor of Vebha Enterprises, Surathkal. The session was conducted for the students of grade V to X and an online session was organised for the parents in the evening especially the mothers regarding Menstrual Health and Hygiene and the environmental pollutant free products.

Menstrual Health and Hygiene is essential to the well-being and empowerment of women and adolescent girls. The lack of information about menstruation leads to unhygienic and unhealthy menstrual practices and creates misconceptions and negative attitudes, which motivate, among others, shaming and bullying. For generations of girls and women, poor menstrual health and hygiene is exacerbating social and economic inequalities, negatively impacting their education, health, safety, and human development. In educating them, they understand the basic facts linked to the menstrual cycle and how to manage it with dignity and without discomfort or fear.

This session proved to be an educative and interactive. The speaker clarified the doubts and myths about menstruation and emphasized the need to be healthy and hygienic and also make the environment pollutant free.

The management congratulated the school for this initiation and wishes good luck for the future endeavours.
