Karkala, Mar 14: Union law and justice minister, M Veerappa Moily, noted that almost all the states including Karnataka, have been implementing government schemes under the guidance of the local legislators or the district in-charge ministers. He felt that for development to be balanced and well spread out power should be delegated and schemes should be executed by local administrations. Failing delegation of powers, proper and balanced development of all the areas will remain a mirage, he cautioned.
He was speaking after inaugurating the ‘Gandhi Nadige’ booth level activists training programme organized by Kissan Sabha Trust at B Manjunath Pai Hall here on Sunday March 13.
“Everyone is entitled to exercise of his or her power. This training programme aims at making the grass root level activists of the party committed to the policies and principles of the party, and preparing them for productive work. We aim at reinforcing the capabilities of the people. If unity is achieved within Congress party, the country will gain strength. It is responsibility of the booth level leaders to build booth level workers,” he added. He also urged the people to make Gram Sabhas more affective tools towards achieving better development of the villages.
Moily claimed that the Manmohan-led government has been working to decimate corruption, and that this is the only government to have brought Rs 45,000 crore black money stashed away in foreign countries.
In his address, district Congress president, Gopal Poojary, who presided over the programme, said that this programme will be taken up in a big away all across the district.
Former MLA, H Gopal Bhandary, welcomed. M N Rajendra Kumar, Jayaprakash Hegde, Dr Santosh Kumar Shetty, J D Naik and several other leaders were present at the dais. Bipin Chandra Pal presented the programme.
