Mangaluru: St Agnes College organizes workshop on ‘Object Oriented Principles with Java Programming’

Mangaluru, Jun 11: A two day workshop on ‘Object Oriented Principles with Java Programming’ was inaugurated on June 10 at St Agnes College(Autonomous), Mangaluru. The dignitaries at the inaugural included Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal of St Agnes College, the resource person and chief guest Dr Demian Antony D’Mello, professor and dean - academics, department of Computer Science and Engineering, Canara Engineering College, Mangaluru, and the PG co-ordinator Sr Dr Vinora AC. The workshop was organized by the Post Graduate Department of Big Data Analytics for the I and II year students of the department.

The head of the department, Jonita Rasquinha welcomed the gathering and highlighted the objective of the workshop. She emphasized the need to enrich programming skills and that the workshop would enable students to practice Object Oriented concepts through hands-on experience. The principal in her address highlighted the need for students to be equipped with programming expertise in different programming languages.

At the inaugural, Dr Demian D’Mello highlighted the need and importance of Academic, Technical and Employability skills. He emphasized that all three balance a steady growth, for handling diversepositions in industry. He also mentioned the need to follow best practices in programming and that the workshop would help students work towards skills expected in Industry. Dr D’Mello gave a glimpse of the workshop and mentioned that it included extensive programming exercises combined with introduction to online tools supported in Java language.
