M'lore: State Provident Fund Pensioners Assn’s Dist Convention Held

Mangalore, Mar 7: The inauguration of Dakshina Kannada district level convention of the Karnataka State Provident Fund Pensioners' Association was held at Town Hall on Monday March 7.

Deepankar Mukherjee inaugurating the convention said that pension scheme which existed since 15 years is marred by several faults. There has not been any increase in the pension since 10 years. As per 1995 scheme the retired employees have been made to get very less amount of pension. He also showed his discontentment over the cancellation of commutation facilities and Return of Capital facilities in Sep 2008. He also opposed the rate of deduction which is increased to 4% from 3%.

He urged the central government to fix the minimum monthly pension of Rs 1,500 by making some amendments to the Employee Pension Fund Scheme 1995.

B Madhava, president of All India Bidi Workers Federation presided. K Pavithran, president of Kerala State Provident Fund Pensioners' Association was the chief guest. Sukumar, convenor of the district committee was present. As many as 3,000 people participated in the convention.
