Mangaluru, Oct 31: A transparent and accountable, corruption-free administration requires public participation, stated deputy commissioner Mullai Muhilan.
He was speaking at the inauguration of a lecture series on "Human Rights – Issues and Concerns" organized by the human rights forum, humanities department, consumer rights forum, women’s forum, and internal quality assurance cell of Govinda Dasa College, under the Hindu Vidyadayini Sangha administration, Surathkal.
“In the past, individuals often had to struggle for even the simplest tasks, from submitting applications to following up on requests. However, in today’s evolving society, online systems have enabled quick processing and accessibility,” he noted. “With digitized records, information verification and retrieval can now be done almost instantly.”
Referring to the mass atrocities under German administration during World War II, he explained how these events reshaped the understanding of human rights and expanded efforts to secure human rights for all individuals globally.
President of the Hindu Vidyadayini Sangha, H Jayachandra Hatwar, praised the deputy commissioner’s efforts, noting that his presence and special lecture on human rights had significantly inspired the students' eagerness to learn. The college principal, Prof Krishnamurthy P, presided over the event. Prof Harish Acharya, program coordinator Dr Ashalatha P, and college administrative director Prof Gopal M Gokhale were also present to welcome the attendees.
