Sullia, Oct 31: A diesel tanker overturned at Baithadka bend near Adkaru in Jalsoor village along the Mysuru-Mani highway on Wednesday, after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.

The tanker, transporting diesel from Mangaluru to the KSRTC depot in Sullia, suffered a significant fuel leak as one of its caps opened on impact. Two holes were punctured in the tanker during the accident, causing diesel to spill extensively onto the road. Local police, fire service personnel, and residents promptly arrived at the scene to address the situation.

Due to the large quantity of diesel spilled, motorists faced challenges navigating the slick road. Authorities redirected vehicles heading toward Puttur via an alternative route through Paicharu-Sonangeri-Kukkandoor-Jalsoor to ease traffic flow.

After about an hour, the tanker was lifted using two cranes and moved to the roadside. The driver sustained a hand injury and received treatment at Sullia hospital.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist, identified as Ibrahim from Sullia, skidded and sustained injuries at the accident site. He was also provided with medical assistance.
