Mangaluru: Vanamahotsav celebrated at Expert Campus

Mangaluru, Jun 6: Expert P.U. College Valachil Campus organized Vanamahotsav-2022, an annual celebration of planting saplings in a large scale to save the planet for the posterity.

P Sridhar, assistant conservator of Forest and deputy conservator in charge, Forest Vigilance, Mangaluru inaugurated the event by planting a sapling.

Prof Narendra L Nayak, chairman, Expert Group of Institutions and Dr Ushaprabha N. Nayak, vice chairperson, Expert Group of Institutions also planted the saplings. Speaking on the occasion Prof Nayak said that the world has been facing a triple planetary emergency-global warming, habitat loss and pollution. We can counter the climate change and collapse of biodiversity only with healthy ecosystems.

Dr Ushaprabha N. Nayak stressed on the need of keeping the campus green and clean. She appreciated the cooperation of the forest department in achieving this in Expert campus.

P Sridhar has lauded the efforts of the management for creating a green campus. He also assured his cooperation to the cause in the days to come.

The students of the campus participated in the celebration by planting the saplings in the campus. It can be noted that as many as 500 saplings of various kinds were planted in the campus.

Ankush N. Nayak, director, Information Technology, Expert Group of Institutions; Dr N K Vijayan Karippal, principal, Raghavendra Shenoy, vice rincipal (admin) Dr Ahad Resident Medical Officer etc. were present on the occasion.

Harshitha A, a student of A2 batch welcomed the gathering and anchored the programme.
