New York, Apr 27: Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director Kash Patel strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, calling it a ‘reminder of the constant threats that the world faces from the evil of terrorism.’
In a heartfelt message posted on X, Patel expressed his condolences, stating, "The FBI sends our condolences to all the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Kashmir and will continue offering our full support to the Indian government. This is a reminder of the constant threats our world faces from the evils of terrorism. Pray for those affected. Thank you to the men and women of law enforcement who answer the call in moments like these."
The Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives, has drawn widespread condemnation globally. US President Donald Trump also expressed his outrage, calling the attack ‘a bad one’ while speaking to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 23. Trump conveyed his deepest condolences and condemned the attack, offering full support to India in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
"President Donald Trump called PM Narendra Modi and conveyed his deepest condolences at the loss of innocent lives in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. President Trump strongly condemned the terror attack and expressed full support to India to bring to justice the perpetrators of this heinous attack. India and the United States stand together in the fight against terror," said Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.
The attack has led to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. In response, India took swift punitive actions against Pakistan, including the expulsion of Pakistani military attaches and the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960. New Delhi also shut down the Attari land-transit post.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a public meeting in Bihar's Madhubani, vowed to ‘identify, track, and punish’ every terrorist and their backers involved in the attack. "India will pursue them to the ends of the earth. Our spirit will never be broken by terrorism," he asserted.
Meanwhile, Pakistan escalated tensions by threatening to suspend the Simla Agreement and putting other bilateral accords with India on hold. Pakistan also announced the suspension of all trade and closed its airspace to Indian airlines.
