Mangaluru: Tree plantation programme held at St Agnes College

Mangaluru, Jun 6: NCC Cadets of Army Wing, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru organized ‘Tree Plantation’ programme on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5 in the college campus to create awareness about saving trees.

This is an important step of afforestation to maintain the ecological balance of nature. The Army Wing cadets were given saplings from Mangalore Group, NCC.

The cadets were divided into groups and were asked to work accordingly. The programme was organized under the guidance of Lt Gayathri B K, ANO Army wing and flying Officer Dr Hithakshi, ANO Air Wing. PI staffs Subedar Jeewan Singh and Havildar Ram Chander from 18 Karnataka Battalion, NCC Mangalore guided all during the programme.

The cadets along with others planted saplings and made fence around them and watered the plants. The programme was appreciated by the management and created enthusiasm among the cadets. At the very end of the programme, the cadets took an oath that they would take much care of the saplings and will not cut trees ruthlessly.

Lt Gayathri B K ANO Army Wing and PG co-ordinator Dr Vinora AC were present during the programme.
