Belthangady: Sacred Heart College Madatyar celebrates World Earth Day

Mangaluru, Jun 1: The NCC cadets and the NSS volunteers of Sacred Heart College Madatyar along with Grama Panchayath Malady and Shaurya Disaster management members meaningfully celebrated the World Earth Day and World environmental day on May 30 by cleaning the vented dam at Shantheri Malady.

They removed the wooden planks and cleaned the dirts and ensured the smooth flow of water. The principal of Sacred Heart College, Dr Joseph N M addressed the gathering. He spoke about the importance of preserving and conserving surface water and groundwater for the survival of the future generation. He sensitized the panchayat officials with regard to the throwing of all sorts of wastes into the river and spoiling the water body.

In this programme, correspondent of Sacred Heart Educational Institutions Fr Basil Vaz, PDO of Malady Panchayat Purushottam G, president, Baby Susana and vice president Dinesh Kerkera, panchayat secretary Yashodhara Shetty, medical officer of Padangadi Primary Health Centre, Shantheri Mahaveera Ballal, NCC officers lieutenant Alvin K G and TO Sanjeet Shetty, professor Rajesh Shetty and NSS PO Arun Johnson Branco were present in the programme.
