Udupi, Feb 23: “The parents want to send their children to private schools, and to get treatment in private hospitals. However, when the question of employment comes, they aspire for government jobs. This is pretty ironical,” said Sri Veereshananda Saraswati Swamiji of Ramakrishna Vivekananda Ashram in Tumkur.
He was delivering a guest lecture on the subject of ‘Beleva Siri Molakeyalli’, at a programme organized by T Ramesh U Pai Human Resources Development Institute at Volakadu government composite high school here on Tuesday February 22.
“When a small sapling grows into a plant and then a tree, it needs protection initially. Once it grows into a mammoth tree, even an elephant can be tied to it. The students should follow this principle, and stay away from entertainment during their study years. Tasting defeat is never a crime, but it is a crime to aim at short-sighted goals,” he opined.
Udupi taluk panchayat president, Devadas Hebbar, presided. Educationist, Prof K R Hande, delivered introductory address. Headmaster o the high school, Ashok Kamath, welcomed.
