Mangaluru, Mar 12: St Aloysius College Higher Primary School organized a heart felt farewell programme to Celestine Agnes Vas for her dedicated service of 39 years, on March 3.
The institution was unable to have farewell programme to our supporting staff who retired in the year 2020, due to pandemic protocols. Flavia Rodrigues and Rosy Crasta were also felicitated with dignity and honour.
A multi-talented teacher who, throughout her committed service, won the hearts of her students, parents and colleagues. She thanked the Mangalore Jesuit Management for all the best opportunities provided all through her career. In her sentimental speech, she recalled and thanked the parents and students from day one of her teaching till date.
Flavia Rodrigues who retired with 34 years of fruitful service and Rosy Crasta with 29 years of dedicated service also expressed their sentiments towards the institution.
The president of the programme, rector, Fr Melwin Pinto SJ, in his presidential speech said, “A time comes when we have to move on”. Addressing Celestine Vas, he said, whenever he comes across students who were taught by her, they look up to her. He mentioned that she has held the name of the school high. Talking about Flavia Rodrigues and Rosy Crasta, he said that their service has been noteworthy in the smooth functioning of the institution. The coresspondent, Fr Gerald Furtado SJ appreciated the great loving service rendered by retired staff. He thanked all the three members of the staff for their selfless service to the institution.
The students put up a befitting programme filled with sentiments on this occasion. On behalf of the students, Ayman Khan, Shwetha and Bhagesh of class 7 expressed their sentiments for the retiring staff respectively. Anita Pais, Padmanabha Rao and Sonia Menezes prepared and read the citation for the retired members of the staff. The programme was compered by the students of class 7.
Headmistress, Philomena Lewis, vice-president of the PTA, Aravind Rao and assistant headmaster, Liya D Souza were present.
