Karkala, Jan 17: Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, noted that the education sector is now free of any fear or doubts. He therefore, advised the parents not to create unnecessary fear among their wards in getting the education they want, and to encourage the children to move forward in the fields of their choice, without any fear. He noted that the education institutions which give prominence to extra curricular activities prosper, and wanted the educational sector to get a new look with new inventions in the next five years. “If the government takes a lead in providing guidance for this change, and the school government councils support the idea, it is possible to do away with the disparities now being witnessed between English and Kannada medium schools,” he opined.
He was speaking after presiding over a programme organized in connection with the centenary celebrations of Kukkundoor Sri Durga Aided Higher Primary School near here on Saturday January 15.
Sri Vidyaprasannateertha Swamiji of Subrahmanya Mutt, delivering benedictory address at the function, noted that the urban students are more prone to getting attracted by the media. He felt that the rural students are lucky to be free to properly develop their physical attributes. He opined that getting education in English is not wrong, as it is felt necessary by a few to properly equip themselves in this competitive world. At the same time, he said that it would be wrong to follow the western culture.
Advocate, M K Vijayakumar, participated as chief guest of the function. Entrepreneur, Andar Ramadas Kini, unveiled the plaque inscribed with names of donors. School headmaster, Jagadish Hegde, convener, K Radhakrishna Shetty, honorary president of the centenary committee, K Nabhiraj Mudya, president, K Gopalakrishna Shetty, and other dignitaries were present at the dais.
