Chief Guest of the programme Divakar Shetty who was also one of the judges of the model competition shared his feelings with the gathering saying "I feel the Tech Fest as a festival. I have worked in this institution for 4 years and that is why this institution is at the centre of my heart. I got the privilege to judge the project models and I felt very happy to see the enthusiasm in the students. The students of one year and two year trades have done very good projects. The students have applied their practical skills in their project. In technical education there is a concept of project work. As human beings, everyone faces problems in their real life. Similarly when we work with projects sometimes it may have problems, it may fail, but failure is the stepping stone to success.
Failure is also a success in itself. When we get success at once we do not learn from it, but when we fail many times we think why did it fail and we try to resolve it until we get success. A good teacher is made by a student. Teamwork is very important. When we work in teams we get many ideas and we can put together those ideas. Presentation of the project is also very important and the students have done it in an extraordinary way. The explanation of the project work by the students was very informative. You have done the projects by yourself by putting your efforts, spending time and you will get success for this in your future endeavours. You get knowledge only when you are involved. I congratulate your teachers as they guided you and appreciate this institution for providing the opportunity for exhibiting your skills in the project work. Even though made by the students of ITI, the projects were to the engineering level.”

Honourable Guest Rev Fr. Gerald Furtado SJ spoke a few words and said, “Many students have visited the project exhibition from various schools. This is the project work done by you. You know how much effort you have put in doing the project. Some key points are important, mainly asking questions- When, What, Why, How. In science, Why and How questions are frequently asked and you must know the answers to them. Exhibition is a good platform to show your hidden ideas. Also communication skills are very important. If our communication skill is not good we cannot tell what we have to say. Also teamwork is very important. When you join a company they ask you whether you can work in a team. You are blessed to be the students of this great institution. God Bless you all.”
Speaking to the students Roshan D'Souza, principal of the institution said, “Scientists do not fall from the sky. They are ordinary people like you and me who discovered their innovative spirit and applied it with dedication. We have provided you this opportunity so that you too discover your innovative side. We are happy to see the great involvement and dedication shown by our students. Keep your innovative spirit alive wherever you go.”
Delivering his Presidential address Fr John D'Ssouza SJ said, “God has given us intelligence to everyone. Everyone has the reasoning power. We have to do our own work in our own way. When you have done the project you have worked together in teams. Also, you have explained the project very well. You were given this opportunity and you have used it very well. Think bigger and start planning for the project of next year from today itself. Innovation is in every field and we must also grow with and adapt to the advancements. Tailoring/Fashion Designing students have done very good projects and many of them have received orders from the visitors for similar articles''.
Naveen, welder student of Batch 2017-18 was felicitated by the institution for his achievement in life. Speaking to the students he said, “You are privileged to be the students of this prestigious institution. I came from a very poor family and this institution transformed me.
