Udupi, Jan 10: The mass drug administration drive under National Filarial Control Programme began in the district, here on Monday January 10.
Deputy commissioner Hemalata P inaugurated the three-day mass drug administration drive under National Filarial Control Programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Hemalata said that although filarial cases are declining in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district, the campaign has to be carried out in order to eradicate fully, said DC Hemalata.
Further, she urged the general public, health assistants and members of social welfare organizations to actively partake in the distribution of mass drug administration programme.
The town deputy councillor Bharati Chandrashekar, municipal commissioner Gokuldas Nayak, district surgeon Dr Chandrashekar Adiga and district Malaria control officer Dr Sitaram Shetty were present at the dais.
The district health officer Dr Ramachandra Bayari compered the programme.
