Mangaluru/Udupi, Feb 7: "The Hijab row is an insult to our country," said KPCC president D K Shivakumar here on Monday February 7.
Addressing the media Shivakumar said, "Our coastal region has its own history with its culture and human resources. For long, it has been revered as an educational hub. It’s unfortunate that a conspiracy is being hatched to change the existing tradition and sow poison in the minds of the youngsters. Apart from this row, we have several issues like unemployment, petrol price hike, cement price hike among many which need to be addressed. Emphasis must be laid on creating employment for the youths so that they live their life peacefully."
"Constitution is the religion we believe in and we have faith that our students will get justice in the Hijab row and the parents are relieved," said D K Shivakumar.
Regarding District in charge minister V Sunil Kumar's statement in Hijab row, D K Shivkumar said, "Sunil Kumar has taken an oath in the Assembly. He should abide by it."
District Congress president Harish Kumar, former MLA J R Lobo, Mohiudeen Bava, Abhayachandra Jain, Shakuntala Shetty, former District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai and others were present.
'Govt ruining children's future'
“I second Rahul Gandhi's opinion. It cannot be any different. Udupi district is known for education. Udupi and Mangaluru are the districts of the educated and the intellectuals. The world is watching India,” said KPCC president D K Shivakumar in response to the media about the Hijab row on the coast.
Addressing the media after participating in the Digital membership campaign at Kaup on Monday, February 7, he said, “Several students come for PUC education here. There are attempts to ruining their future instead of showing them the right way."
“Karnataka has sufficient wealth but people here go out of the state looking for jobs. It is painful to see the minds of the children getting poisoned,” said D K Shivakumar.
“We are witnessing a disaster again after 75 years of independence. Everything has become expensive. BJP has done nothing but give tall promises. People are in distress without jobs.” he lamented.
“Some youth are eager to join Congress. Congress has begun a membership campaign. We are giving priority to digital membership. Two leaders are appointed for each booth. This is an opportunity for those below 18 years to join,” he said.
