Mangaluru, Jan 21: St Agnes is a virgin martyr, venerated as a saint in the Roman Catholic Churchand Eastern Orthodox Church. St Agnes is one of several virgin martyrs commemorated by name in the Canon of the Mass. She is, among other patrocinies, a patron saint of virgins, girls and chastity. Saint Agnes' feast is commemorated on January 21. According to the tradition St Agnes was the member of the Roman nobility. Born in AD 291 she suffered martyrdom at the age of thirteen on January 21, 304.

Saint Agnes is patron saint of those seeking chastity and purity. She is also the patron saint of young girls and girl scouts.

Being the patroness of St Agnes CBSE School Mangaluru, a colourful programme was hoisted to commemorate this important day. The pioneers of this institution each year are blessed with her countless blessings and to carry out the noble mission. A beautiful prayer service was presented by the students with a prayer dance followed by depicting the significance of the day with an action song by the grade III students. The important values of St Agnes were also presented on this day.

The management is grateful for all the noble work carried out in the name of the great Martyr St Agnes and continue to wish success in the future.
