Bahrain, Dec 14: New India Assurance Company has introduced personal accident insurance for the lower income expatriates in Bahrain. This scheme is meant for Indian nationals whose salary is under BD 150.000, and who are between the age 21-65. No premium will be collected.
Sudhir K Shetty, agency manager of New India Assurance Company, Bahrain, informed at a press meet that till now five death claims and two accident claims have been settled and each of the seven families have been paid BD 1000.000.
He also said that workers are not aware of this scheme should join and if a death occurs due to accident or heart attack they must inform Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF).
The Highlights of the Scheme:
The policy covers all Indian nationals earning less than BD 150.000, including domestic workers.
Policy covers accidental deaths and disabilities.
Policy covers heart attacks and heart related deaths.
Policy is an open cover, no allotment is required.
In case of death ICRF will contact the insurance company
Documentation is very simple – salary certificate, death certificate and medical report are required.
Claims will be settled within 48 hours subject to producing of documents.
