Sullia, Dec 14: “Our ancient religion has always given uppermost importance to righteousness. We have always treated people from all religions as equals. Hindus provided shelter to people from other religions, who came into their country.  Now the same people have been trying to crush Hindus. Unless we wake up to the prevailing situation, we will be betraying our religion,” said Sri Vidyaprasannateertha Swamiji of Subrahmanya Mutt.

He was delivering benedictory address at a public function organized at Lord Chennakeshava Temple ground here on Monday December 13 by Hindu Samajotsava Committee and taluk Lord Hanuman Shakti Jagarana Samiti.

In his keynote address, Karnataka organizing secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishat, Keshav Hegde, called upon the people to vehemently oppose a deep-rooted conspiracy being hatched to link Hindu organizations with terrorist activities. He also urged the central government to give legal sanctity to the efforts for building Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Samiti honorary president, Manibettu Purushottam Gowda, also addressed the gathering. Samiti president, Girish Bharadwaj, welcomed. Convener, Srinivas Ubaradka, proposed vote of thanks. Secretary, Vinayakumar Kandadka, presented the programme.

As part of the programme, Lord Hanuman Shakti oblation was conducted in the morning. Before the meeting, a procession was taken out.
