Doha: MCA Qatar to Host Gulf Voice of Mangalore - III

Doha, Nov 17: The Gulf Voice of Mangalore – 2012 will be hosted in Qatar by the Mangalore Cultural Association (MCA).
This was announced after the programme held to honour Preema Pinto the runner-up of Gulf Voice of Mangalore (female category) and Rupert Lobo who was among the Best 3 in the finals round of GVOM (Male Category) at the Hotel Ashiayana here, recently.
As the first phase an Organizing Committee was formed which will be headed by Veena Rebimbus Pais. Harry Lobo president of MCA announced the names of the Organizing committee members, Veena Rebimbus Pais, Jason Quadros, Arthur Pais, Aloysius D’Souza, Victor Allwyn D’Souza, Arun D’Souza, Prakash Noronha, Leena Mathias and Harry Lobo on the occasion.
The Advisory Committee members Felix Lobo and Jerry Pinto symbolically handed over the GVOM Memento, to mark the beginning of the historical event.
In his address, Felix Lobo said that this is a major project and in future subcommittee members will be appointed as per the requirements. Any MCA member interested to work in the committee can give their names to Harry Lobo or Veena Pais, he said. Lobo also said that as a preparation for the major event MCA has plans to organize many training programmes for the benefit of the singers, adults as well as youth/children.
Veena Pais on behalf of the GVOM Organizing committee assured that they will put in their full efforts and selflessly work for the success of the Gulf Voice of Mangalore - 2012.
Earlier, Mangalore Cultural Association, Doha Qatar honoured Preema Pinto the runner-up of Gulf Voice of Mangalore (female category) and Rupert Lobo who was among the Best 3 in the finals round of GVOM (Male Category)amidst the Executive and Advisory Committee members of MCA and the 12 semifinalist of Doha GVOM and their families.
Preema Pinto was honoured by Felix Lobo on behalf of MCA. Preema thanked all those who were instrumental in making her what she was today. She remembered her parents, brothers, sisters and above all her Husband Navin Pinto who had always encouraged her and was also one of the contestants in the semifinals. She also promised her full support and co-operation for the next GVOM to be hosted by MCA in Qatar.
Rupert Lobo was honoured by Jerry Pinto on behalf of MCA. Rupert spoke about his experience in GVOM and said that he was very happy to be a part of the finals of GVOM. He thanked everyone for supporting him.
Also mentioned that he had tried to give his best performance, but the judgment was based on criteria and he fully agreed and abided with the judgement. He also mentioned that all the participants from Qatar were very co-operative and always with each other. He thanked all of them and assured his full support for the next GVOM.
Stephany Lobo conducted the prayer and Benjamin Rebeiro delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was hosted by Veena Pais. Some of the semifinalist sang some beautiful numbers and entertained the gathering.
MCA also invited the talented Konkani speaking Mangaloreans residing in Qatar to be its members and actively take part in the historic event.
