Mangaluru, Nov 26: Constitution Day, 'Samvidhan Diwas' was celebrated with a sense of patriotism at Mount Carmel Central School on November 26. This day every year is celebrated to commemorate the adoption of the 'Constitution of India' which was adopted on this day in the year 1949 and came into effect on January 26 1950.
The programme was held in the school auditorium by Class VIII A, B for the seniors and Class III A, B for the juniors. It commenced invoking God’s blessings on the country and on every citizen. Edel Grace Lewis, Aiden Quadras and Manith accorded a hearty welcome. Homage was paid to Dr B R Ambedkar for his masterful contribution in framing the constitution, the best in the world. The significance of the day was well presented by the students highlighting the important characteristics of the Constitution. A short skit was enacted showcasing the strength of character of Dr B.R Ambedkar. The preamble was read by Ashni Tia D Mello. The cultural programme with songs and dances added a spirit of patriotism.
The winners of Olympiads conducted during the year 2020-21 were felicitated. The chief guests Tr Rama Ramdas for seniors and Tr Shyla Crasta for juniors, appreciated and applauded the talents of the students and urged them to be proud of our constitution and live by it. The celebration concluded by administering the pledge by Anvila Neora D'Souza. Preemal Pinto and Darsh proposed the vote of thanks. The programme ended by singing of the national anthem.
