Mangaluru/Udupi, Oct 22: Dakshina Kannada on Friday, October 22 reported 24 new coronavirus cases, while Udupi registered 14 cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 20,38,551 samples have been tested so far, out of which 19,23,333 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,15,218 out of which 286 are currently active.
As many as 41 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,677.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,07,27,070 as fine in 88,341 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 11,96,721 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 14 new cases were reported on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 76,639 out of which 62 are currently active.
A total of 6 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
Out of 14 new patients, 10 are in home isolation while 4 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 14 cases, 11 cases are symptomatic and 3 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 6 new cases, Kundapur registered 3 and Karkala 1 and one case was from out of the district.
Coronavirus has claimed 476 lives in the district so far.
So far 9,08,949 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 4,78,796 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
