Mangalore, Oct 28: To mark the death centenary of Fr Augustus Muller, Fr Muller Memorial Oration will be organized on Tuesday November 2, at 3 pm in the Academy Hall of Father Muller Medical College (FMMC), said Fr Denis D’Sa, administrator, FMMC here at press meet on Thursday, October 28.
Prof P Balaram, director, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore will deliver the oration. He is a professor of Molecular Biophysics and his main research interests are in bio-organic chemistry and molecular biophysics. He has also authored over 400 research papers.
The theme of the oration is 'Science and Medicine – Building a Research Interface in India.'
Dr Denzil Lobo, director, St Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology (AIMIT) will be the guest of honour.
The oration will be attended by the faculty of various medical colleges of the district and the state.
Fr Denis D’Sa, administrator, FMMC and Dr J P Alva, dean, FMMC were present at the press meet.
Death Centenary of Fr Muller
Father Muller Charitable Institutions will be commemorating the death centenary (1910-2010) of its founder Fr Augustus Muller on Monday, November 1, said Fr Denis D’Sa, administrator, FMMC.
As a part of celebrations, the newly-built hi-tech laundry at Father Muller will be inaugurated. The foundation stone laying ceremony of the new building for Father Muller College of Nursing and Father Muller Museum will be inaugurated on the occasion.
Seemanth Kumar Singh, IPS, commissioner of police will be the chief guest. Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, bishop of Mangalore and chairman of FMCI will preside over the programme.
