Sullia, Dec 24: In an alarming incident, cash and gold ornaments were stolen from the residence of a temple priest in Subrahmanya.
Anand Bhat, a priest at the Subrahmanya Math, left for the Math early on the morning of December 22 to perform his routine priestly duties. After completing his work, he returned home to find the lock on the front door broken.
Upon entering the house, he discovered the cupboard safe open. On inspection, it was found that approximately Rs 25,000 in cash and gold ornaments weighing around 23 grams, valued at Rs 1.15 lac, were missing from his wallet kept inside the safe.
Subrahmanya police, along with the investigative team, visited the scene and conducted a thorough examination. A case has been registered at the Subrahmanya police station, and further investigation is underway.
