Mangalore: Illegal Explosives Unit – Two Held

Mangalore, Oct 28: The policemen of Bajpe station, on Wednesday October 27, raided a house in Vikasnagar, adjacent to national highway at Gurpur-Kaikamba, and seized raw materials used in the manufacture of explosives illegally. While they succeeded in arresting two men, two more escaped from being caught.

The arrested persons have been identified as Yakub (40), a resident of Bajpe Korakambla, and Sujay alias Tinga (26) from Malali Ganjimutt. Arif and Asif, who also were involved with the unit, succeeded in giving the policemen a slip. The policemen raided the unit functioning from a residence in Vikasnagar in the afternoon, and seized local-made crackers and different raw materials used in making crackers, totally valued at around two lac rupees.

The raid was conducted by Bajpe policemen under the direction of Panambur assistant commissioner of police, Puttamadaiah. The team comprised of inspector, Valentine D’Souza, sub-inspector, Vinayak, and other personnel.
