Udupi, Sep 15: St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady celebrated Teachers’ Day, the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on September 6, 2021 with great pride and honor. The celebration started with a prayer session led by Deepa Kamath, Eunice Anchan and Renita. The dignitaries inaugurated the formal program by lighting the auspicious lamp and paying floral tribute to the portrait of Dr Sarveppalli Radhakrishnan.
Principal Fr Johnson Sequeira in his introductory remarks highlighted the efforts taken by St Mary’s in adapting the newer teaching methodology and updating the competency of teachers to meet the futuristic needs. The chief guest of the program professor Guruprasad Rao, the principal of Thrisha Vidya College of Commerce and Management, Katpadi in his message stressed the need of providing skill based education in schools so that students grow with confidence and positive outlook. He appealed the students to believe in their passion and chase the dreams with greater dedication. He added that the success of educational and career journey depends more on the art of ‘success management’. The correspondent Fr Charles Menezes in his presidential address appreciated the significant role of teachers in molding the character and shaping the personality of students. He opined that the healthy progress of the society largely depends on the vision and professionalism of teachers.
Teachers’ choir led by Divya Ganesh presented a special wishing song emphasizing the noble qualities of teaching hood. Savitha and team presented a thematic group dance signifying the loving bond of relationship between teachers and students. Teachers’ theatre troop performed an experimental drama ‘Benkiyalli Aralida Hoovu’ scripted and directed by Vinaya Suvarna depicting the challenges and hardships faced by teachers in this era of online teaching. The drama also spotlighted the sacrifices made by teachers during the pandemic hit days to ensure the uninterrupted learning experience for students. Bhaskar and Gerald conducted few spot games to add more charm to the celebration. Correspondent felicitated the teacher achievers with prizes and mementoes as a token of appreciation for their selfless service. Assistant parish priest Fr Ashwin Aranha; the honorable members of School management committee Benedicta Fernandez, Maxim D’Souza, Dr Herman DSouza, Walter DSouza and Janet DSouza were present on the occasion. The program was coordinated by vice principal Rita Quadros.
The program was anchored by Usha Hegde and Venilda Rodrigues. Cybil Soans presented the welcome speech and Veena Mayekar extended the words of gratitude.
