Kannarpady, Sep 15: The feast of Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary was celebrated as ‘Patron’s Day’ in St Mary’s English Medium School on September 7, 2021. The preparation for the celebration had begun with nine days novena with solemn spiritual fervor. On the last day the exquisite statue of infant Mary was gorgeously decorated and a special prayer session was held under the guidance of correspondent Fr Charles Menezes. St Mary’s staff devotedly took part in the prayer session by offering flowers to infant Mary and invoking her shield of protection and blessings.
The formal program commenced with the singing of Marian hymns by teachers’ choir. Later principal Fr Johnson Sequeira symbolically inaugurated the celebration by presenting sugarcane to the dignitaries and guests. The chief guest of the program Fr Anil DCosta OFM Cap, principal of Trinity Central School, Perampally in his address glorified the exemplary role of Mother Mary in Jesus Christ’s life as a teacher and mentor. He added that the teachers should play an influential role in the lives of students by molding their character. The correspondent Fr Charles Menezes in his presidential address said “The life of Mother Mary upholds the depth of womanhood and its noble virtues”. The tenth edition of ‘Marian Panorama’- School’s annual magazine was also officially released on this occasion by correspondent and other dignitaries. Teachers’ theatre troop presented a heart touching skit highlighting the unequal treatment of women in society.
The members of school management committee Boniface D’Souza, Benedicta Fernandes, Irwin Alva, Gracian Bothelo, Maxim Dsouza and Janet DSouza were present on the occasion. The senior priest Fr William Martis and Fr Ashwin Aranha, assistant parish priest of Mother of sorrows church, Udupi graced the occasion. Vice principal Rita Quadros coordinated the program. Dignitaries and staff took part in the fellowship meal as mark of family bond and harmony.
