Bangalore, Oct 11: In a bid to mount pressure on the Congress-ruled UPA regime to desist from taking any 'foolhardy' step like dismissal of the democratically elected BJP government in state headed by chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, the state BJP Legislature party has decided to parade all its 105 MLAs before Rashtrapathi Bhavan on Tuesday, October 12.
The state BJP legislature party, which held its meeting at the Golden Palm resort off city limits on the Tumkur Road, decided on the strategy of flying all its MLAs by a chartered flight to Delhi for holding a parade before Rashtrapathi Bhavan on October 12.
The state BJP legislature party has also decided to submit separate memoranda to President Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh not to allow any unconstitutional acts like dismissing a legitimate and democratically elected government in state.
The BJP leaders have also warned that the party would hold nation-wide protests if the Centre went ahead with any foolhardy measures like dismissal of the 28-month-old Yeddyurappa regime and imposition of President’s rule in the state based on the highly partisan and objectionable report sent by governor H R Bhardwaj.
"We will also demand immediate recall of the Governor for his unconstitutional and partisan behaviour,” a party spokesman announced.
The spokesman contended that the Speaker was well within his rights to disqualify any of the MLAs for anti-party activities as per the 10th Schedule of the Constitution under the anti-defection law.
Meanwhile, BJP national general secretary Anant Kumar announced that he would rush to Delhi tonight along with senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu for holding discussions with BJP national president Nitin Gadkari, BJP opposition leaders in the lok sabha Sushma Swaraj and rajya sabha Arun Jaitely as well as former deputy prime minister L K Advani and veteran leader Dr Murli Manohar Joshi and others for discussions to finalise the party’s strategy to tackle the political situation.
