Mangaluru, Sep 6: The Postgraduate Department of Psychology and the research committee from St. Agnes Center for Post-Graduate studies and Research, Mangalore hosted a 6 Day National Level-Research Enrichment Programme, which kick started on September 6, 2021.
The programme has been spread out for 6 days, wherein the participants will be learning the fundamentals of research and publication. Eminent research experts would be addressing each day, providing their expertise and knowledge in the field of Research in Social Science.
The inaugural programme was graced by the principal of St Agnes College, Sr Dr M Venissa A.C. She welcomed the gathering with her warm and kind personality and stated that, “Research is a passion, and it comes with knowledge and attitude you have towards it. Fundamentals of Quantitative Research should create a desire to know more and thirst more. These efforts will satisfy the thirst and lead to be a master in the art of research”. She also mentioned that the progress of the country is in the hands of the upcoming generation and the attitude of curiosity and inquisitiveness will help in developing the scientific mindset in an individual. These 6 days, will help young researchers to structure themselves in order to innovate growth of our country.
The programme also witnessed the presence of the pg coordinator, Sr Dr M. Vinora A.C, the programme convener and head of the department, Dr V Premanand, the organising secretary, Deepa Kothari, the organising committee, the participants included, the faculty from various colleges, students and research scholars from India.

Day 1: Dr. Ashok H. S, Retired Professor Banaglore Univeristy Philosophy of Science in Research
Day 2: Dr. M Y Manjula, Professor Emeritus in Psychology, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Bangalore Selection of Research Problem, Objectives, Hypothesis
Day 3: Dr. Justin James, Assistant Professor, University College, Trivandrum Research Design
Day 4: Dr. Baby Shari, Professor in Psychology, Calicut University, Kerala Sampling Design
Day 5: Dr. Mariamma Philip, Additional Professor in Biostatistics, NIMHANS, Bangalore Data Collection and Statistical Analysis
Day 6: Dr. Arkalgud Ramprasad, Director, Ramiah Public Policy Centre, Bangalore and Professor Emeritus of Information and Decision Sciences at the University of Illinois Chicago Communicating Research.
Today being the first day the session highlighted on the Philosophy of Science, and the resource person to shed information was, Dr Ashok. H.S, Retd Professor Bangalore University. He enhanced the session and highlighted the various Philosophies of science and educated the participants on the importance of understanding the philosophies, which helps in conceptualising the research.
The national level programme, witnessed the participation of more than 165 participants who had an enriching and positive session on the 1st day of the webinar.
