Mangaluru, Sep 4: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) minorities unit president Sayeed Ahmed, challenged BJP national general secretary, C T Ravi, to prove his allegation that terrorist and illegal activities are taking place in Madrassas. He asserted that other than Quran studies, no other illegal activities are undertaken in Madrassas.
Addressing a press conference in the district Congress office here on Friday September 3, Ahmed said that Madrassas are meant to study the Quran and accused Ravi of issuing misleading statements as an election gimmick. He said he is ready to obey Ravi's diktats if Ravi proves that terrorists are being trained in Madrassas.
He said that the Taliban rising to power in Afghanistan does not benefit Indian Muslims. He said that Islam never approves terrorism and terrorists. He wondered why the chief minister is silent in the face of wild allegations made against Madrassas by C T Ravi and BJP MLA, Basanagouda Patil Yatnal.
He pointed out that the Muslims have not raised their voices against the Supreme Court judgment in Ayodhya case. He said there is no record of the Muslims having demolished temples. He also claimed that the Muslims shower flowers when the procession of Ganeshotsava passes in front of the mosques.
Former MP Ibrahim, former MLA J R Lobo, former MLC Ivan D’Souza, district Congress minorities unit president Shahil Hameed, district youth Congress president, Luqman Bantwal, Ibrahim Kodijal, Shashidhar Hegde and others were present.
