Mangaluru, Sep 4: A person who was detected with covid19 infection, made an attempt to go to Sharjah through the international airport here last Monday. The officials who registered a case against him under the Infectious Diseases Act, shifted him to the Covid care centre.
A person planning to visit Sharjah needs to possess an RT-PCR report that is less than 48 hours old. Even though the infection was confirmed, the man came to the airport for flying to Sharjah but he was detained at the entry gate, a health department official said.
The official expressed unhappiness at the fact that the officials of the Airports Authority of India failed to take action against the man. He pointed out that the authorities are expected to keep him separate from the others and register a complaint in the local police station. He said that the man was allowed to move around the airport.
The district administration, alerted by the incident, held a joint meeting in the presence of the district administration, airports authority and flight operators on Wednesday. The concerned have been instructed to make sure that such incidents do not recur.
Before a person boards a flight to the UAE, an RT-PCR negative report and other documents need to be uploaded in the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs website and seek permission for the person's entry there. The officials said that details of the negative report which the person reportedly uploaded in the website to secure permission are being collected.
