Mangaluru, Sep 1: When the breath is unsteady, all is unsteady; when the breath is still; all is still. Control the breath carefully. Inhalation gives strength and a controlled body; retention gives steadiness of mind and longevity; exhalation purifies body and spirit. – Goraksasathakam
The above quote has a profound sense of meaning for those affected by Covid-19 which has left 87 percent of the affected individuals with residual symptoms including fatigue, breathlessness, joint pain, chest pain, and reduced quality of life. It has even resulted in reduced muscle function, stress disorders, depression, etc.
Physiotherapy has proven effective in reducing these symptoms and improving an individual’s ability to perform daily tasks.
On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day, the department of Physiotherapy, Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences and the Father Muller Medical College Hospital is conducting a Covid-19 camp, on September 6 for a 'Free Post Covid-19 Fitness Evaluation' which is conducted taking into consideration all Covid-19 safety precautions.
This camp is for the all Covid-19 survivors who still face difficulties in activities of daily living and also for those who would like to learn deep breathing exercise.
They will perform Pulmonary function testing, body composition analysis, exercise/endurance capacity testing, fatigue assessment and provide lung health care.
By increasing the lung capacity, muscle capacity, and endurance, Covid- 19 survivors have reaped the benefits of chest exercise techniques to improve lung volumes, reduce cough, reduce fatigue and be able to return to work.
Those who would like to register for the camp need to call between 8:30 am – 4:30 pm between September 2-4, 2021 at 0824 2238289.
One can experience the guided therapeutic exercise session at the Father Muller Convention Centre (Muller Dine). No charges applied.
