Mangalore: Group Clashes in Ulaibettu – Movement of Buses Suspended

Mangalore, Sep 15: After two groups of youth clashed with each other on the night of Monday September 13, tension gripped Ulaibettu area in the outskirts of the city. The policemen, besides beefing up security in the area, have suspended operation of three city buses in the area and ordered parking of these buses in the police station premises.

A passenger named Mohammed Hanif was assaulted by a group of youngsters, when he was travelling in a city bus bound for Ulaibettu. Hanif, in his complaint to the policemen, identified his assaulters as Prashant, Santu, Geetesh and Sheena.

Sometime thereafter, a group attacked Prashant, one of the accused. Prashant complained to the policemen, alleging that Mohammed Hanif, Mohammed Nassir, Anwar, Khalid, Farooq, Shamir, Iqbal, Nazeem, Siddique and others had assaulted him.

As the policemen took preventive measures, the situation returned to normalcy on Tuesday.
