New Delhi, Aug 1 (IANS): With the Supreme Court lifting the stay orders of the Delhi and Bombay high courts Friday, Hockey India (HI) Saturday decided to host its maiden elections here Aug 5.
The elections were postponed four times for various reasons.
"The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has agreed to send its observer Antonio von Ondarza (vice-president) for the elections to be held at Delhi on Aug 5," HI said in a statement.
The returning officer for the elections will be retired judge R.C. Chopra. The elections were earlier adjourned Wednesday.
The FIH had also expressed possibility of banning India from participating in future tournaments, if the elections were not held at the earliest.
