New Delhi, Apr 29: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar revealed today that he received a call from the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who sought information regarding the unfolding situation following the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam.
“Received a call from @UN SG @antonioguterres,” EAM Jaishankar posted on X.
He further stated that India appreciates Secretary-General Guterres’s strong and unambiguous condemnation of the terrorist attack that occurred in Pahalgam.

“Agreed on the importance of accountability. India is resolved that the perpetrators, planners and backers of this attack are brought to justice,” EAM Jaishankar affirmed.
This development follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi's firm directive to the armed forces earlier today, where he asserted India's unwavering resolve to deliver a "crushing blow to terrorism."
During a high-level emergency security meeting, PM Modi unequivocally stated his complete trust in the professional capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces. He assured them of full operational freedom to determine the “mode, targets, and timing” of their response to the terror threat emanating from Pakistan.
This strong declaration came in the wake of the Pahalgam massacre, where 26 innocent lives, predominantly tourists, were tragically lost, leaving the nation on edge awaiting India's response.
The urgent meeting, which included Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and the Chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, was described by sources as "extraordinary in urgency and nature."
Held just days after the brutal Pahalgam attack, Tuesday’s meeting is widely seen as the initial step in fulfilling the Prime Minister's vow, as India prepares for a decisive response.
