Mangaluru: IEEE Srinivas University Student Branch conducts technical talk

Media Release

Mangaluru, Dec 5: The Srinivas University IEEE student branch on December 2 organized a technical talk on 'Literature Review & Methods to Write a Review Article'. Dr Raghavendra S, associate professor of the department of Computer Science and Engineering of Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology was the resource person.

In the technical session, he addressed aspects such as steps in the literature review, how to include citations, the significance of research databases, the importance of keywords during searching articles, and how to read the research article and summarize the same. He demonstrated the use of different software tools that are used for inserting the citations in the literature review. “A literature review paper is equivalent to a hundred scholarly papers as it summarizes the findings of many research articles. When selecting a research paper for review the author must download the source from standard journals. If the review paper uses scholarly articles published recently, it will have more weightage. The topic of the literature review must be clear and the area must be narrowed. If the area is broad, we get millions of research articles, and finding relevant information from them will be a herculean task,” he said. The technical session was followed by a question-answer session where the resource person cleared the doubts of the participants.

Jeetha K, coordinator of the publicity committee of IEEE Srinivas University student branch welcomed everyone, introduced the resource person, and also proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Krishna Prasad K, counselor of IEEE SUSB guided the proceedings of the webinar.

The programme was attended by approximately 130 participants, including members of the Srinivas University student branch and research scholars of Srinivas University.
