Mangaluru, Nov 13: Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM) in association with Simplus Learning Academy introduced a short-term certificate course in Basics of Money Management for its MBA students. Gerard Colaco, financial consultant and partner of Colaco & Aranha, Mangaluru inaugurated the programme on Monday November 9 at MSNIM campus at Bondel, here.
Deepak K Rao, founder and director of Simplus Financial Consultancy Pvt Ltd, Dr Molly S Chaudhuri, director of MSNIM, Manel Annappa Nayak, vice-president and K Devanand Pai, secretary of WNES were present.
In his keynote address, the chief guest Gerard Colaco observed that financial planning is essential for a person to achieve personal financial objectives. “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail,” he said. He advised the students to choose entrepreneurship over employment and said, “In order to live your dream life, try to achieve financial freedom in life at the earliest. Control your destiny, or someone else will. First, be a lifelong student. Second, whatever you do, give your best. Third, and most importantly, help others to rise.”
The 30-hour course will cover all aspects of personal finance like investment planning, financial planning, investment avenues to consider and avoid, insurance, the stock market, mutual funds and entrepreneurship. The programme is being held using online platform. It will conclude on November 29. 86 students of the institute are participating in the course.
This is part of a series of value-added extra-curricular courses being offered to students of MSNIM to boost their personal competency. The course in money management provides a platform for the students of final year MBA to understand the various money management concepts. Investment consultants Sapna Shenoy, Yvonil D’Souza, Elston Neil Menezes, Gavin Abner Pinto, Lal Krishnesh, Vinod Kumar N and entrepreneur Gopala Krishna Baliga are the resource persons.
Simplus Learning Academy is the training wing of Simplus Financial Consultancy Private Limited, a Bengaluru-based personal financial services firm, which was established in 2006 to educate, enlighten and empower common investors in the country.
