Panaji, Nov 12: Ports minister Michael Lobo on Wednesday said that the state government should support the locals who are against mega infrastructure projects coming up in the environmentally sensitive areas. After he met with chief minister Pramod Sawant, Lobo said that decisions carried out by the BJP-led government in the state should be taken in the interest of the Goans, a report by TOI stated.

“We have come to power in the larger interest of the people. The 10 congress MLAs who have joined the government have come to get their work done and so that people can be happy,” said Lobo.

Lobo further asserted that the CM will take an appropriate decision on the coal issue and the other concerns raised by locals in due time. “The decision will be in the interest of Goa. Coal can be unloaded at Mangaluru and taken. There is a disturbance for the locals because of the pollution so coal should not be unloaded here,” said Lobo. The ports minister also accused the Opposition of trying to gain political mileage through the agitations.
