Moodbidri, Apr 25: ‘Ullangane,’, a Kannada novel by litterateur Dr Na Mogasale has bagged Kannada Sahitya Academy Award here on Saturday April 24.
Dr Na Mogasale’s Kannada novel ‘Ullangane’ also bagged in all four awards including Kannada Sahitya Academy Award, Kuvempu Prashasti, instituted by Karnataka Sangh of Shimoga, Dhaduranga Prashasti by Mysore Chaduranga Pratishtana, Chadaga Prashasti of Suryanarayana Chadaga Smaraka Pratisthan of Bangalore.
Kannada novel ‘Ullangane’ was chosen by Harinakshi M D, lecturer of a college in Puttur for her thesis on challenges of women based on novel ‘Ullangane’ and secured doctorate from Hampi Kannada University under the guidance of Dr Pa Na Mayya.
Veteran Kannada litterateur Nilavar Surendra Adiga has authored a book ‘Ullangane: Seemolangane – Ondu Sahradaya Odu,’ which will be released during the first week of May 2010.
Eminent Kannada litterateur Subba Rao is in the process of inking a book as a critic of Kannada novel Ullangane. Dr Sitalaxmi Karkikodi of Mangalore is compiling opinions from readers, veteran novelists and writers, on Kannada novel ‘Ullangane’ which will be published as a book.
It’s also significant that Dr Na Mogasale had bagged Karnataka Rajyotsav Award during 2004, besides other awards from various education institutions, social welfare and voluntary service organizations.
His Kannada novel ‘Nannadalladdu’ published in 1977 and his collection of self-composed poems, published in 2003 also bagged Kannada Sahitya Academy Award.
